If you are concerned about breathing healthy air and improving lung health, the American Lung Association of California’s Healthy Air Walks are for you. Healthy Air Walks are planned in communities across the state to raise funds for programs that reduce air pollution and prevent lung disease.
Healthy air is a key issue in California, where we breathe some of the most polluted air in the nation. For people who already have trouble breathing, like those with lung diseases such as asthma or COPD, healthy air is even more critical.
The walks are fun family events that feature entertainment, refreshments and camaraderie. Participants are encouraged to recruit a team of walkers who share your interests or concerns. For example, if your child has asthma, you may want to ask other families who have experienced asthma to join you. Those who have been touched by lung cancer could form a team. Or maybe you have COPD and participate in one of the association’s Better Breathers Clubs. You could recruit other club members to be on your team.
Companies can use the walk to bring employees together to focus on a common goal. Corporate teams send a powerful message that your company cares about the community and the environment.
Asking friends, family and coworkers to donate to this crucial effort will be easy. You will probably find they are ready and willing to join the movement to improve our air and protect our environment.
Participate in the American Lung Association of California’s Healthy Air Walks and join thousands of individuals and families who want to take steps now to make sure future generations can breathe healthy air.
